In 2002 a couple from the Antique Farm Machinery Association went on the Heritage Ride along the I & M Canal. They enjoyed themselves so much that they decided to share the fun with their home town tractor enthusiasts. They organized a 10 mile ride from Twin Lakes Park in Paris to downtown Paris and then on to the Vermilion Park in Vermilion, Illinois. There were 32 tractors from the Edgar County area that participated. Once at Vermilion, they displayed their tractors for the Vermilion Days festival and tractor pull. Fun was had by all. With more interest from area tractor enthusiasts, the club took the idea to the Clark County Antique Power Club. With their help, they formed a committee of approximately 10 members to organize the Bi-County Classic Tractor Cruise.
Since the Cruise has begun, the committee has grown. Places visited during the cruises have been the Darwin Ferry on the Wabash River, Lincoln Trail State Park, Mill Creek Park, Pumpkin Works, as well as doing the Moonshine run and traveling the Durkees Ferry Trace which was the first road laid in Edgar County. Each year the tractors have increased from the 32 that started in the short cruise to 114 and went from a 10 mile trip to 120 miles in three days. The camaraderie shared by the participants and spectators is shared from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa and as far as Oregon.
